Motorized Rides: Are Your Kids Breaking The Law?As warmer weather brings more electric bikes and scooters to the streets, the Township of Clark is reminding residents that many of these vehicles—especially when operated by juveniles—are subject to strict state and local laws. Recent increases in complaints have prompted the Township Administration, Council and Clark Police to work together to update sections of the local code for the safety of all in the community. CPD has launched an awareness campaign about Township Ordinance 347-65 and will be actively investigating violations. Parents and riders should know that many e-bikes require a NJ State license, registration, and insurance, and are now prohibited on all sidewalks and all Township and Board of Education property. Additionally, private property owners such as the Clark Commons, the Target Shopping Center, and the soon-to-open Starbucks have partnered with the Township to help promote a safer environment by restricting the use of these vehicles on their premises. Learn more in this edition of "In Conversation With the Mayor" as Captain Lott explains the new ordinance and what you may not know about youths and motorized scooters and bikes.
