Warmer Days Mean More Wheels on the Road—But are They Legal?
The Clark Police Department wants parents and teens to know: not all electric bikes and scooters are street-legal, and many riders don’t even realize it. If a motorized bike can hit higher speeds, it may require a license, registration, and insurance—even if it looks like a regular e-bike.
With complaints on the rise, CPD is stepping up enforcement of Township Ordinance 347-65. These vehicles are now banned from sidewalks and all school and Township property.
Private property owners—including the Clark Commons, Target Shopping Center, and the soon-to-open Starbucks—are also supporting this effort by restricting use on their grounds to help keep everyone safe.
To help families better understand the rules, CPD has created a video you can watch and a handy guide below to explain which e-bikes are legal, what documents are required, and where they can be ridden.
Parents— check before they ride. Teens—know the rules before you roll.
