Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad Honors Two Cadets with Annual Scholarships
The Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad (CVES) proudly awarded its annual scholarships to two Cadet members who have shown remarkable dedication to both their community and future careers in healthcare.
Emily Miekina was named the recipient of the Harry Jarvis Memorial Scholarship, an award established in memory of a devoted CVES member who tragically lost his life during a snowstorm. This scholarship honors his legacy by supporting high school seniors pursuing careers in the medical field.
Emily currently attends the Academy for Allied Health Sciences, where she discovered a passion for medicine. As a Cadet with CVES, she’s actively contributing to emergency response efforts in Clark and neighboring towns while gaining hands-on experience that aligns with her goal of working in healthcare.
Atharva Tyagi received the Jack and Josephine Quinn Scholarship, named in honor of two longstanding CVES members. Jack Quinn served as the squad’s training officer and taught CPR throughout the community, while Josephine Quinn was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Together, they played a vital role in the growth and success of the squad. This scholarship is awarded to a student entering the medical field with strong leadership and service credentials.
Atharva’s resume includes serving as Class President, co-founding the Biocomp Club, and acting as Director of Finances for Model UN. He’s also participated in the prestigious Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program (ASSIP). His long-term goal is to become a physician-scientist, merging healthcare and innovation.
CVES congratulates both scholarship recipients and thanks them for their service. Anyone interested in learning more about the squad or how to get involved is encouraged to email CVES@ourclark.com.
