Parking Rules: What Clark Residents Need to Know
Clark Township wants residents to understand the basics of street parking, especially if you own a work truck, van, trailer, camper, or boat. These rules are designed to keep our streets safe, accessible, and attractive while still allowing residents to own and use their vehicles.
Under township ordinance, standard passenger vehicles may be parked on streets overnight. However, larger vehicles including commercial trucks, trailers, boats, campers, and heavy trucks (approximately two tons or more) may not be stored on public streets overnight. This helps ensure that emergency vehicles and snowplows can navigate our roads safely and that neighborhoods remain uncluttered and visually appealing.
For residents who have work vehicles of their own, or contractors working, the ordinance provides some flexibility. These vehicles may be parked temporarily on the street while actively performing work within 200 feet of the property being serviced.
This allows for deliveries, service calls, or construction work without violating the rules. Outside of these temporary situations, work and recreational vehicles should be kept on driveways, in garages, or on other private property. Please consult the ordinance for further guidance on the distance these vehicles must be kept from property lines and the street.
The goal of these regulations is to balance the practical needs of residents with safety, accessibility, and neighborhood quality. Residents who are unsure whether a specific vehicle or situation is allowed are encouraged to contact the Clark Police Department at 732-388-3434 or Township offices at 732-388-3600 for clarification.
